Russian antitrust gets Google’s request for more time to fix breach
MOSCOW, Sep 2 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has received a request from Google, which the authority earlier found guilty of abusing its dominance on the local market of preinstalled application stores and fined with 438 million rubles, to prolong the period of executing the order, the service said Friday.
“The service will consider the company’s application in due course,” Yelena Zayeva, director of the authority’s connection and IT regulation department, said.
The antitrust watchdog said in late August it could impose a second fine on Google up to 500,000 rubles if the U.S. giant fails to mend the violations. Google must, among others, to untie its application store Google Play from a bundle of other services that used to be compulsory for device manufacturers.
